Please, specify what games you've run, and how long you've run that campaign.  Is it just straight 3.5 D&D?

What's a good way to go about learning about D&D?  Is it considered ok to go to a meeting and just observe?  I haven't played but am interested to check it out.  I'm sure, knowing nothing like I do, I'd be more of a hinderance/annoyance to players without first doing some reasearch on how it's played.  Looks like the meetup thing already happened.

Rob, most people don't mind if someone just hangs out for a bit to see if they like the way things work.  Most will even let you begin playing without knowing the rules, and will help you to learn the basics.  Then, if you decide it's something you like i would suggest for you to get a players handbook.  I think you can sign up on meetup.com to find out and get notices for the monthly D&D meetup.  You can also contact me with any questions and I'll do what I can to answer them.

I've always found roleplayers as friendly gamers.  It's as he says, alot of times they'll even let you join right then, etc.  It really just comes down to if they are at a starting point or not usually :)  If they are in a large campaign watching would probably be more preferred, etc, etc.  Check out that new event posted in the events forum!

D&D is crazy easy to learn. If you have an imagination, you're halfway there already.  :)

Any of you tabletop gamers that check this topic should also have a gander through the tournament headings.  Each month I will be posting new event in the Oklahoma city area and I'm working on a gaming day sometime after the 1st of the year.  If everything works out well I'll try and do one in T-Town as well some time down the road.  If you have question that you don't wanna post just P.M. me and I'll post them annonymously for you along with the answer.

For those interested in learning the game,

I have no trouble letting you watch / join a throwaway game.  Just so you can see what all the hubbub is about.

just let me know.

I have always wanted to learn how to play games like these.  I would like to watch a game sometime but I could not commit into being in a game until late spring/early summer.  I am a fourth grade teacher and am about to move into a new house in BA so my weekends are pretty much gone until May.  My interests are more into Shadowrun than D&D, though.

I'd love to get back into some D&D!!!  I haven't played in like 10 years.
