Getting known in the community

I only play Call of Duty games. I play Reach once or twice a month XD.

So I'd say the question still stands - are you trying to get to be known for someone that plays your game well, wants to help out the local community or OKgamers specifically, or?

Be known as a good player at a certain game.

Take top 8 placing at a few events, you'll be noticed by your peers.

As for "everyone on the site" - that's a tall order, as the variety of gamers is so diverse.
