Tulsa: SSF4 players
« on: August 17, 2010, 04:22:58 AM »
When i went to Tokyo in Tulsa this year, they had to cancel the SSF4 tournament because of a lack of players. I really like this fighting game, and i was wondering if i could make some new friends in the Tulsa area who play it. Its the first fighting game i've taken seriously, and i wan't to eventually be able to get a bunch of people together in a room to play, for a pot or for fun.

I use both PS3 and Xbox360. Username is GooseDrew for both accounts.

I hope a few of you are interested.

The problem wasn't that, it's the lack of people willing to use PS3 even though it's tournament standard

In all reality - I think Tulsa and OKC probably have well over 30 interested SSF players.

Getting them all in one spot, and at an event is a different story :)

OKgamers has officially decided to "Switch gears" and start supporting more community building events, instead of always focusing on Tournament Only style events.  (yes, TnT is a great event where we do both, but for some reason, gamers are afraid of anime, and downtown?  Meh.)

No console restrictions.  No game limit.  BYO and we'll have fun seeing what Tulsa comes out to play.

Anyway - more on this when we get a venue and food support locked down - keep an eye on the Planning and Hype forums - as we'll be posting a "what's a good date to start" this thread in there FIRST.

I'd like to contribute more to the whole process of things for Tokyo in Tulsa next year. I'll post more on here around that time.

Either way, i like the open element of consoles. My schedule's gotten a lot fuller now that school has started, but i promise to help support any fighting game events in Tulsa. I've never touched games like Blazblue/Guilty Gear (and hardly touched Tekken), but I'd be willing to learn more.

weirdos and dem one way streets man

anime and i can answer all BB related inquiries, anime can handle (some? all?) guilty gear questions, and odlei can probably handle anything tekken. in case you wanted some info or good match videos or whatever

i used to play some ssf4, then BB:CS came out and now i probably wont ever touch it again, but good luck

collinsville is that place just north of owasso right? i dont recall seeing many people north of tulsa (that wasnt kansas)on any of the sheets but hey welcome to the north of tulsa party

I know the basics for GG and can help there, but all the advanced stuff is pretty character specific and crazy so it's all knowledge from then on.

But with no console restriction you need to PROVIDE the adapters to both consoles... on every console lol, just lay them there as though anyone else using anything else doesn't matter.

Well I know PS3 to 360 converters aren't that laggy for controller, if at all. Same with 360 to PS3 controllers.  For sticks there are custom ways to make them universal and have no issue either so it should all be good. That's in theory though... which is the problem with NO RESTRICTIONS

I tried to look into converters for Tokyo in Tulsa, but everything i could find about them, (from fighting game players on srk) said that the inputs were too laggy.

Its fine for me now, i had just gotten a good job at the time and ended up buying a PS3 fightstick afterward so i could climb that wall lol.

Either way, i might throw down money for the new BB. It'd be nice to have some friends who would play it with me. I'm a fast learner. All my friends up here hate fighters. (and make fun of me for playing them) ;;

EDIT: I have Tekken 6 on the Playstation too, but i don't quite understand it either. I've played Tekken for fun all my life, but never looked at professional play till this last EVO.

making them universal takes a lot of time and some money or a lot of money and some time, plus some knowledge of small electronics

if they play fps exclusively then you can climb on your high horse and know that you are superior, whether they accept it or not

it is a lonely road at the top

That thought process is the reason why we need console restrictions and people should abide by them

I just finally realized how much gaming costs me. I spent 500 dollars on game related stuff over summer.

Yeah, i just came across a small fortune, so i'll get the new BB on PS3 here in a bit. Is there a way to get your PSN or Gamertag?
