Why OKgamers works with throwing events?
Our primary goal is to continue being the best resource to gamers in Oklahoma, however we also want to help out the gaming communities!  All events held by our volunteer staff of OKgamers is to get the word out about OKgamers.com as well - the site for casual and hardcore gamers and businesses in the Oklahoma area to post gamer related events and tournaments, get players together, and go to find out what's going on in our area.  Tired of hearing Oklahoma has nothing to do?  OKgamers proves things are going on all the time!  We work with events to help more things happen, and get the word out about OKgamers.com at the same time!

Want to help out the OKgamers cause of spreading the word, so we actually KNOW what's going on around the area?  -
 - Join our staff!
 - Learn how College and HS students can get community service through volunteering with OKgamers!

Soul Calibur 4 RULES - http://www.okgamers.com/pdf/sc4-rules.pdf

**IF A QUESTION ON RULES ARISES BEFORE A MATCH STARTS, FIND A STAFF MEMBER!**
Let us resolve the rules, and get you going again!

What you need:
We seriously suggest you bring your own controllers.  Gamers may let you borrow theirs, but it's always best to bring your own - less concern about your performance as well Smiley

HARDWARE - OKgamers ORGANIZES events - in the end, we are just gamers like yourself, trying to promote a free resource, OKgamers.com.  We really do RELY on the LOCAL COMMUNITY especially, to help us provide hardware for this event.

You get cheap events, and little to no travel expense, all with quality competition coming to you...  All you have to do to help - is help the event have hardware for both you and the travelling competitors to play on!

Can you bring hardware?  It ALWAYS helps!  A "Setup" consists of a TV, console, game, controllers if possible and save data.  TV - 19" or above, tube preferably for some fighting games, and remote if you can't change to input on the front.  SF / SC / Tekken and SSBB - FULLY UNLOCKED (SF = all available, SSBB 'more rules' and all 35 characters, and levels, etc), and any controllers would be appreciated, however we encourage people to bring their own.  And of course, the game, console and any required cables.

Can't bring hardware?  While ANYTHING can help, we also understand if you cannot.  Pre-reg will help show what hardware is coming, so check back for that, and encourage those friends that CAN bring hardware, that they do.

MORE HARDWARE = FASTER TOURNAMENT.
MORE HARDWARE = NO SUCH THING AS "too many tournament attendees".

How you should act:
We are at a public venue - please respect all around you, and remember your in public - so act accordingly.

Spectators and Players - absolutely NO interference during a tournament match.  No harrasing your friends or their opponent, messing with controllers or settings, etc.  When 2 people play each other, they are to be respected and observed, not distrurbed.  Please do not test us on this Smiley

What else can you do - Well, spread the word!  Remember, not everyone finds a flyer or knows about OKgamers!

***REMEMBER, WE DO RELY ON THE PLAYERS TO BRING ENOUGH HARDWARE - what is enough?  At least 5 to 6 for SSBB, and for other fighting games 2 to 3 setups for SF4, and then 2 for SC4, 2 for Tekken 6.  We can and will cancel a game's tournament if we do not have enough hardware that shows up ON TIME.(We ask hardware to be there typically 20 to 30 minutes before the tournament is set to start, see times.)  Why is this? OKgamers.com can only organizes events, yet as the front page explains we are not a company, nor do the venues we work with have everything.

It's a "potluck" style event meant to help the gaming community.  Help us help you have a great event!

YOU KNOW US - we run these for promotion of OKgamers - so we run a tight ship to keep everyone happy.
We reserve the right on ANY game to make on the spot changes to the tournament rules, such as a change to Single Elimination if there is not enough hardware, or too many people show up ["Too many" only determined by us not having the hardware brought to meet the demand in the time we have - be sure you understand that].  We have to be done no matter what at Alien Games by 10pmish, thus the concern.
 - Have we before - yes, rarely.
 - Will we change?  Only if we HAVE to.  Hardware and you determine that.  (Remember traveling gamers don't have a lot of room, they depend on locals to help.)

Sharpen up your game, we'll see you soon!

Go out to your blogs and your websites and your myspaces - and link back to this thread - it helps - trust me.  Also, check out the Facebook and add us!

I vote halo.

Halo requires a large area - the FPS footprint is wide.  This is our first event there, and we decided to stick with fighters for this.

No FPS at this one.

We'll have more events coming up, and we'll have a whole AREA dedicated to FPS at Tokyo in Tulsa - which may have some suprising sponsors and regional / national tie ins.  More coming on that later.

Well, I can almost certainly guarantee my appearance here. However, my TV is well beyond the specified limits.

Despite this, I can still bring both the 42" TV, the PS3 with the save data, and the game itself or at least some of it.

I'll bring the TV regardless to keep on standby, just to make sure that we at least have something to play on in case no one brings anything.

Again.

We have 2 50" Plasma's that can be used for the tourney and 3 32's hanging in the corners as well. They may be a little high though. Come by and check us out before the tournament and get an hour of FREE play through March 4th!!! Just mention this post on Okgamers.com  Grin
