EDIT 2 - The second Sundays of every month. That's the day we are working with now. Final approval is pending. You'll know it's good when a thread appears in the tournaments and events forum.

EDIT - everything below the line is from the old post, this is a update:
Anyway - so we are officially looking to make a monthly tournaments thing happen at Funhouse. DDR supernova, Magic, SC3 ac, and two to three other, console based games. Smash 64, and maybe GGXX or Naruto would probably be first billings.
There would be a 3 to 5$ entry fee for the event, and Best Buy gift cards and tokens for prizes.
Something that would start around 2 or 3pm, and go till 9 or 10pm, depending on hardware and other conflicts.
Now we just need to figure out - a good day of the month.
Venue issues - they have birthday parties in the same area as we'd be playing. So starting a '2pm till yea' tournament set - would be out on Saturday. However - what about Sunday?
Any other day is during the week, and makes me hesitate. Sunday though, seems good to me. Thoughts?
We'd want to throw the younger group games first - so magic, and smash / ddr would definitely be earlier, as they tend to draw a younger crowd.
// everything below this is from the original thread starting conversation, while some of it has already been figured out, yes, I thought I'd still leave it.

So, I'm thinking about approaching Funhouse / the venue where I've had all the tournaments I've personally thrown and put up on this site - think over a regular / ongoing tournament schedule.
We could elect what games would be played on what dates, and set up a schedule. Post the schedule in a sticky in here, and as the events approach, start up a thread for them.
Why?
Well, first off I'm a gamer, and I like to play.
Second off - I'm a whore for getting the word out about this site, and something regular would serve to aid in that.
Why am I a whore?
And this is important...
...just like anyone that wants to do anything and promote it on any site, I'm fighting a big evil cycle here.
Getting gamers to the site? Requires events/reason to be here to want to make them come.
Getting events on the site? Requires giving organizers the crowds to want to come advertise.
Gamers want events. Organizers want to see gamers.
So far - I've been waging the war against laziness and disconnection in the ways of throwing events that my friends have wanted to draw attention, and printing flyers to get the word and url out. This has put a slight dent into the at least Tulsa area of Oklahoma. Now - I want more - a serious sledge hammer sized effect heh.
Free advertising is out there - one method? The Urban Tulsa.
They currently have several 'ongoing events' sections in their what's going on / events section of the paper. One friend has used them several times - once for auditions for their movie, and another he's familiar with because of the Oklahoma Film types meet regularly, and the Urban Tulsa puts their meeting in there.
What if - we had such a thing going for us?
First off - realize I've already submitted the 2 events that were posted about as of last week - the SC3 AE tournament and the Guitar Hero tournaments. First in the email, I stated we had ongoing events and tournaments. Which is true. However - I haven't heard back from them, and of course fear the worse heh.
So - this all brings me to - regular tournaments in Tulsa?
I was thinking we could all have our games included. Some Smash 64 perhaps to start it off. Then SC or Tekken or both. Then if we could corral enough hardware types and players - maybe a Halo thing. Naruto I'd love to see outted from their Minicon / Anime con only event status lol. And maybe even throw those GGXX types a bone. Maybe even - a Magic tournament?
In that spirit of inclusion, I could just approach Wizards Asylum and see if they have a ongoing tournament line up / would want to do one, and just assimilate that in there.
Location and game - does not matter. We just need to establish a 'weekly / monthly' whatever timeline, and have the talent / resource pool to keep it going, and get the word out there.

It's an idea. Just like this whole site, I'd love to do it, and I'd love to advance the cause. Read more at my 'future changes and inspiration' post here -
